Teaching has taken me many places. I feel fortunate to have traveled to countries and lands which have furthered my understanding of our world and pushed me to ask all sorts of questions, engrossed in some amazing, new experiences. Additionally, my work has taught me to look closely, which has opened my heart and eyes to all sorts of things that I've been immersed in all along, but now try to capture via camera. This spirit transfers into my day job, where I can share this enthusiasm of the world with students, colleagues and friends. When I don't walk around with my camera, I file away images and thoughts to return to, if possible, at a later time.
In time to come, I hope to have more experiences in places near and far, while carrying my camera along. I'll keep an open mind and sense of compassion for the simple, yet complex people and places. Like getting blessed by an elephant in India, there are many unplanned and wonderful surprises everywhere you turn, if you just take time to stop, notice or try.
